2 Corinthians 10:3-9 (King James Version)
3For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
4(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
6And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled
7Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? if any man trust to himself that he is Christ's, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ's, even so are we Christ's.
8For though I should boast somewhat more of our authority, which the Lord hath given us for edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed:
9That I may not seem as if I would terrify you by letters.
2 Corinthians 10:3-9 (New International Reader's Version)
3I do live in the world. But I don't fight my battles the way the people of the world do.
4The weapons I fight with are not the weapons the world uses. In fact, it is just the opposite.
My weapons have the power of God to destroy the camps of the enemy.
5I destroy every claim and every reason that keeps people from knowing God. I keep every thought under control in order to make it obey Christ.
6Until you have obeyed completely, I will be ready to punish you every time you don't obey.
7You are looking only at what appears on the surface of things.
Suppose you are sure you belong to Christ. Then you should consider again that I belong to Christ just as much as you do.
8Do I brag too much about the authority the Lord gave me? If I do, it's because I want to build you up, not pull you down. And I'm not ashamed of that kind of bragging.
9Don't think that I'm trying to scare you with my letters.
2 Corinthians 10:3-9 (Amplified Bible)
3For though we walk (live) in the flesh, we are not carrying on our warfare according to the flesh and using mere human weapons.
4For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds,
5[Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God;
and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One),
6Being in readiness to punish every [insubordinate for his] disobedience, when your own submission and obedience [as a church] are fully secured and complete.
7Look at [this obvious fact] which is before your eyes. If anyone is confident that he is Christ's, let him reflect and remind himself that even as he is Christ's, so too are we.
8For even though I boast rather freely about our power and authority, which the Lord gave for your upbuilding and not for demolishing you, yet I shall not be put to shame [for exceeding the truth],
9Neither would I seem to be overawing or frightening you with my letters; 2 Corinthians
10:3-9 (New Living Translation)
3We are human, but we don't wage war with human plans and methods. 4We use God's mighty weapons, not mere worldly weapons, to knock down the Devil's strongholds.
5With these weapons we break down every proud argument that keeps people from knowing God. With these weapons we conquer their rebellious ideas, and we teach them to obey Christ.
6And we will punish those who remained disobedient after the rest of you became loyal and obedient.
7The trouble with you is that you make your decisions on the basis of appearance.[a] You must recognize that we belong to Christ just as much as those who proudly declare that they belong to Christ.
8I may seem to be boasting too much about the authority given to us by the Lord. But this authority is to build you up, not to tear you down. And I will not be put to shame by having my work among you destroyed. 9Now this is not just an attempt to frighten you by my letters.
2 Corinthians 10:3-9 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
3 For although we are walking in the flesh, we do not wage war in a fleshly way, [a] 4 since the weapons of our warfare (A) are not fleshly, but are powerful
(B) through God for the demolition of strongholds. We demolish arguments 5 and every high-minded thing that is raised up against the knowledge (C) of God, taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.
6 And we are ready to punish any disobedience, once your obedience is complete.
7 Look at what is obvious. [b] If anyone is confident that he belongs to Christ, (D) he should remind himself of this: just as he belongs to Christ, so do we.
8 For if I boast some more about our authority, which the Lord gave for building you up (E) and not for tearing you down, I am not ashamed.
9 I don't want to seem as though I am trying to terrify you with my letters. Common Questions? 1. What is the strongholds?
They are invisible chains that control our soul and hearts and mind therefore controlling the outcome of our lives. Well, there are devil’s and God’s.
The lies and concepts of man that are believed by you in all your life is the devils’ strongholds such as poverty mind set, rebellious spirit, excessively talkative spirit, gossip, accusing of brethren spirit, homosexuals, unbelief of God’s Word, doubt of God’s love and power…
The Truth and Word of God that are believed by you are God’s strongholds. They are like little rooms in the house of God, that are filled with beautiful jewels.
And Bible says that you are the temple of God that are being remodeled eveyday by hand of God. 2. Why does the devils’ strongholds need to be demolished?
Well, that is obvious so that we can start remodeling the house of God which is our heart and soul and mind.
That’s why God commended us to love the Lord your God with all your soul, all your mind, and with all your heart and strength.
It takes God’s Word and all of you to proceed with this project of remodeling of your soul.
3. How does God demolish the devil’s territory in our life?
When we chose God in one area at a time to serve God not the devil, and repent of our sin and turn away from sin than God’s power will come in and reside in the place the devil left. For example, you have been controlled by the stronghold of anger in all your life and you know it that is your area that God needs come in and replace with peace, you will have to repent and every time the situation where you can get angry arises, you pray and ask God to control you and resist and fight the demon spirit of ungodly anger.
And you will see the salvation of the Lord in that area.
3 steps, pray to God, fight the devil, enjoy the victory…pray, fight, enjoy…pray, fight, enjey,,, do it 7 times until the devil knows that you are too determined for him the mess with.
4. How do we fight?
Well, according to 2Cor 10:4, we fight the enemy with God’s stuff, His Word, His thoughts, His ways, His concepts, His power, His presence, His kingdom and we must know what is His stuff well enough so that we can use them to fight the devil with.
5. How do I know what strongholds are bounding me? Well, that’s easy, is there in your life that feel little uncomfortable.
That’s because the devils are there that need to be fought out in your life.
Call it what it is and cast him out of your soul and repent and believe God will save you.
6, How does God saves me if I can't hear God’s voice? Well, you will be able to hear God’s voice through deliverer that God will send to you.
I heard His voice through the deliverers in my life when I was young in the Lord.
So pray for that and recognize him when God brings the deliver to you.
